Fighting Poverty through Football”
June 04, 2018
What we will be doing in Kenya:
I am the founder of the Roehampton community shield. This is a tournament setup and run to raise money for the Kenyan orphanage Sure 24. Our main goal is to place an academy and Astro turf facility in order for them to run a sustainable business but also to build there sports programs.
This year we are going to Kenya to run two tournaments to build the community football as well as coach the young people within the orphanage. I have previously been to Kenya in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and I have witnessed the need for new sports equipment as well as opportunity to progress there sports within a safe environment, example: a pitch that doesn’t have sharp stones sticking out. While out there I want to coach the Sure 24 team as well as the younger children who will one day represent the orphanage. My main goal will be working with the community and running a successful tournament engaging loads of different people throughout the day.
I really need help with donations, Key things are:
-
Plastic 7 aside Goals
-
Footballs
-
Bibs
-
Cones
-
Even donations on my just giving page which will be linked below.
My moto for this tournament I run is “fighting poverty through football”. I set the tournament up based on this and I will continue to work with the Kenya community to raise this money in order to make a positive change.
